Who you are dealing with

This website is operated by Gold Coast Tree and Stump. We arrange quotes. We do not do the work ourselves: the job is quoted and carried out by a local business we hand your enquiry to.

What follows is the plain version of what we collect, who gets it, how long we hold it and what to do if you are unhappy.

What we collect

The quote form asks for your name, your phone number, your suburb, a short description of the job and your email address, if you give one.

When you send the form, the site also records which page you sent the form from, the address of the page that sent you here, the kind of browser you used, the country your connection resolves to, a one way scrambled version of your network address, the exact wording of the consent line you agreed to and the result of our automatic spam checks. The scrambled version of your network address cannot be turned back into the real one; it is there so we can tell a person from a machine filling in the form.

If you ring 0439 021 022, the call is connected through Twilio, which logs the number you are calling from and the time and length of the call. If your phone hides your number, the log does not show it. The call itself is not recorded.

Where your details go

Every enquiry sent through this site is handed to the local tree contractor we arrange this work with, who rings you back to talk about the job. The one exception is an enquiry our spam checks hold back. It is not passed on straight away, and it is passed on only if we look at it and find it is real, so if you have not heard back, call 0439 021 022.

We are paid by the local tree contractor we arrange this work with for making the introduction. That is said here rather than buried somewhere, because it is the reason the site exists.

Apart from the services that store and deliver them for us, named below, your details go nowhere else. They are not sold, not rented out to a list, and not shared with any other business.

What you are agreeing to

Sending the form is how you agree to that. We hold your details only to deal with your enquiry.

You can change your mind. Use the contact at the bottom of this page and we will delete what we hold. Ask the local tree contractor we arrange this work with as well, because from the moment we pass the enquiry on they hold their own copy and we cannot delete theirs for you.

If you would rather your details were not passed on, do not send the form.

Getting a copy or a correction

A copy of what we hold, a correction to it, or its deletion: all three are a message to the contact at the bottom of this page.

We do not charge for any of them and we do not make you explain yourself.

How we measure the site

Cloudflare Web Analytics tells us which pages people open, which page or site sent them here, and how fast each page loads. Nothing is stored on your device, and nothing it records identifies you.

We read the totals and nothing else, and they are never used for advertising.

Where it is kept

Enquiries are stored in a database run by Cloudflare. Only the people who need it to deal with your enquiry can get at it.

Cloudflare runs its network across many countries and we cannot promise your enquiry sits on a server in Australia. A phone call does not avoid that: calls to 0439 021 022 are connected through Twilio, a company in the United States.

To tell us an enquiry has arrived, the site sends us an email through Resend, and only an email. That company is in the United States, so your details pass through its systems there on the way to us. The email then sits in our email account with Google, a company in the United States.

How long it stays

An enquiry lives for 12 months and is then deleted, including one our spam checks held back.

So is the email we were sent about it.

If you want it gone before that, say so and it goes. No reason needed.

Either way, a deleted enquiry lingers for a while in backups and logs. Cloudflare keeps a backup of the database for 7 days and Resend keeps its email log for 30 days. Twilio keeps its own records of calls, under its own policy.

If something goes wrong

Come to us first and we will look at it properly. Ring 0439 021 022. We reply in writing and we try to do it within a month.

You can also go to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, which deals with privacy complaints about Australian businesses, and you can do that whether or not we agree with you.

Changes to this page

If what we do with your details changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top moves. The consent wording you agreed to when you sent an enquiry is stored with that enquiry, so it does not move underneath you.
