A koala priority area
South East Queensland's koala conservation strategy put one of its koala priority areas in east Coomera, which is home to one of the region's largest koala populations. That mapping decides what can be touched here more often than anything else does.
McCoys Creek Wetland holds coastal saltmarsh and coastal swamp oak forest alongside paperbark and blackbutt open forest, and its habitats support koalas, tusked frogs and water mice.
The same eucalypts grow in the yards around those reserves, which is why a removal here starts with the mapping rather than with a price.

Koala watching, and getting through the gate
There are koalas in the reserve near us. Does that stop the job?
Not always, but it sets the conditions. Colman Road Reserve, a natural area conservation park beside McCoys Creek and the Pimpama River, is a known spot for watching koalas in the wild foraging on the eucalypts, and those trees do not stop at the reserve boundary. A habitat tree is checked before anything is booked.
My estate is gated. How does access work?
It is arranged before the day, not at the gate. Parts of the Coomera Waters estate are gated body corporate communities, such as Western Bay, where vehicles enter on a card or a remote requested through the estate's management company.
